Whether you’re a mint-chocolate chip ice cream aficionado, or a lover of the humble chocolate chip cookie, you’ll be pleased to know that our luxurious Supplant chocolate is now available to food manufacturers in bite-sized bits.

The chocolate chips are just as delicious as our Supplant milk chocolate bars, but conveniently sized to mix perfectly into ice creams, cookies, muffins, and more.

Perhaps our chocolate chips are the newest type of chocolate chip innovation, but the history of chocolate chips goes back to the late 1890s. According to Smithsonian Magazine, the earliest chocolate chips were actually drops of chocolate-covered molasses, which were also used in baked sweet treats.

Later, the chocolate chip as the morsel of melty chocolate goodness that we know today, was popularized in the 1930s by a woman named Ruth Wakefield, the inventor of the Toll House cookie. Wakefield ran an inn in Massachusetts, where she baked cookies with chopped up bits of chocolate in them for her customers for years before selling the recipe to Nestle in the 1940s.

The joy of chocolate chips is in their versatility. We developed our chocolate chips to make it easier for our bakery partners to create their favorite recipes — instead of having to chop up our chocolate bars by hand, they can now just stir them in and bake up their favorite cookies, whether they’re chocolate-chocolate chip, peanut butter chocolate chip, Toll House, or even chocolate-chip shortbread.

Our chocolate chips also make it a little easier for our bakery partners to give their customers a sweet treat that’s better for their health. Sugars from fiber is lower in calories and has a lower glycemic response than sugar. And because sugars from fiber acts as a prebiotic, it’s good for gut health.

Customers who shop at our bakery partners like having a choice that’s better for the planet, too. Because sugars from fiber is made from upcycled agricultural side streams, it makes farmland more productive, and transforms natural material that would otherwise be discarded into an ingredient that is better for the planet, and better for the people who live on it.

You can find our chocolate chips in delicious treats at our bakery partners, including Bouchon Bakery in Napa, and Bouchon Bistro in Las Vegas.

And of course, you can order our full-size milk and dark chocolate bars anytime you like at shop.supplant.com.
